Pizza is an occasional food. It changes our mood and tastes delicious. Once you get addicted to its taste, you will crave it.

In old and ancient times, people used to eat dry pieces of bread which neither have any taste nor toppings. Below we will discuss the great history of Pizza

Ancient Israelites and Egyptians all ate unleaved and tasteless bread baked in ovens of mud. The Greeks and Romans once baked bread that include olive oil and some of their local spices or focaccia breads. The modern pizza we eat today is the kind with tomato sauce, cheese, and different toppings that originated in Italy.

How did pizza spread across the world?

Raffaele Esposito (Italian chef) helped a lot in moving the idea of pizza from being a food for poors to the main menu item. Once, he made a pizza for Queen Margherita from which the name "Margherita pizza" derived.

  • Beef Pepperoni Pizza: It is the most popular pizza variety. It became popular in the 1950s.
  • BBQ Pizza: No doubt the taste of BBQ along with other pizza toppings is worthless.

  • Meat lover Pizza: This pizza contains a large amount of meat. So if you are a meat lover, you'll definitely go for it.
  • Cheese lover pizza: If you like cheese, you will love this flavour of pizza undoubtedly.

Ingredients

The things that are required for this recipe  are mentioned below: 

  • Yeast: It is required for the rising of the dough. It is also used for baking purposes.

  • White Flour (Maida): It is one of the most useful and versatile ingredients for any baker or cook. It is also used to thicken the sauce and gravy. White flour is commonly used to create New York-style crusts and deep-dish pizza crusts.
  • Milk: It plays a very important role in making pizza dough. It strengthens gluten, softens the crumb and helps the crust brown.
  • Salt: It is used to enhance the taste of pizza and makes it super yummy for our tummy. Salt is an important ingredient for making pizza. 

  • Oil: It makes the process easier for dough. It is used to make dough without any holes. It adds flavour to the pizza. Mostly olive oil is used in the preparation of different pizzas. 

  • Sugar: It helps create a fine crumb and also tenderizes dough by making it more extensible. It adds flavour to the dough.

  • Water: The dough needs to be kneaded with water. Only the right amount of water will make the perfect dough for pizza.

6- Procedure

Step 1: Kneading the dough (Skip if you are using readymade dough)

To make dough for Pizza, follow the steps given below: 

  • In a bowl take some lukewarm water and put two teaspoons or a  sachet of instant yeast in it. leave it for at least 5 to 8 minutes to rise. Put a towel or plastic covering over it to protect it from the air. Put the mixture in a warm and dry place.
  • In another dish refine 2 cups of flour. Add one tablespoon of sugar to it. Likewise, add one tablespoon of salt. Combine all the dry ingredients together. Mix them well and prepare them for pizza dough. Set the dry ingredients aside.

  • Add six tablespoons of olive oil to 10 tablespoons of milk. Mix them well until they are nicely combined together 

  • Take the dry ingredients (flour, sugar and salt) and make a hole in the centre, pour the yeast into them and mix them until combined.

  • Then add milk along with the olive oil in it. Mix them and gradually add water as required for a soft dough. Knead it for a minute or two for a perfectly soft and tasty dough. 
  • After kneading the dough, leave it in a warm and dry place for at least two hours for rest. Cover it with a plastic sheet or a  wet towel so that the air cannot enter. It is the most important step to make the dough fully rise and prepare the dough for pizza. 

Step 2: Marination of chicken

Marination makes the chicken more spicy and delicious. If you are a spice lover you shall follow the steps given below for a tasteful pizza 

  • Chicken required: half kilogram (kg)
Spices that are needed for the marination of chicken along with their quantities are given below:
  • Ginger powder - half teaspoon 
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon 
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon or as per taste / required 
  • Black pepper powder - half teaspoon 
  • Oregano - 1 teaspoon 
  • Lemon juice - 1 and a half teaspoon 
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Red chilli flakes -  1 and a half teaspoon 

Mix all the spices together and marinate the chicken with them, leave the chicken to rest for 30 minutes or at least for an hour.

Step 3: Preparation of sauces (Skip this step if you are using any other sauce)

Two sauces are required for pizza. Tomato sauce is the most important one while white sauce is used to add more flavour to its taste.

Preparation of Tomato sauce

The things which are required for the preparation of tomato sauce along with their quantities are given below:

  • Oil - 2 to 3 tablespoons

  • Onion - 1 medium ( Chopped )

  • Garlic - 1 tablespoon ( Finely chopped )

  • Tomato - 2 cups ( chopped )

  • Salt -  half teaspoon or as required 

  • Tomato ketchup - 1 cup 

  • White pepper powder - 1 teaspoon 

  • Brown sugar powder - 1 teaspoon 

  • Soy sauce - 1 teaspoon 

  • Red chilli flakes - 1 tsp 

  • Red chilli powder - half teaspoon 

  • Oregano -  1 teaspoon  

Procedure of tomato sauce:

Put a pan on a gas stove and add 2 to 3 tablespoons of oil to it. Heat it for 2 seconds on a medium flame then add chopped onions and tomatoes to the pan after that cook them for at least 15 to 20 minutes. After 20 minutes add garlic to the sauce and add water gradually. when the sauce starts thickening add spices to it according to the order given. when you feel that the sauce is in its right consistency turn off the stove and set it aside.

The process of making the white sauce:

The things which are required for the preparation of white sauce along with their quantities are given below:

  • Oil - 2 to 3 tablespoons
  • White flour (Maida) - 1 tablespoon 
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Garlic cloves - 2 to 3 (Medium - chopped)
  • Black pepper - half teaspoon 
  • Fresh cream - 1 cup 
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon or as required 

Procedure of white sauce:

Put a pan on a gas stove and add 2 to 3 tablespoons of oil to it. Heat it for 2 seconds on a medium flame then add chopped garlic to the pan and cook it for 15 minutes until the flour turn brown in colour. After that add Milk and fresh cream to the sauce gradually. When the sauce starts to thicken add spices to it. When you feel that the sauce is in its right consistency turn off the stove and set it aside.

Step 4: Cut the toppings

Different people like different toppings on pizza. It represents their personality type. Following are some of the toppings that are used almost in all flavours of pizza all across the world. the toppings and the way of their cuttings are mentioned below:

Onions - (Cube shaped cutting)

Step 5: Baking the Pizza

A pizza can be made by following two steps :
  • With oven
  • Without oven

Procedure with the oven:

In order to bake the pizza in the oven. Take a pizza tray and set the dough in it. After that make small little holes in the dough with the help of a fork or stick. Spread tomato sauce on top of the dough and sprinkle some grated Mozerella or Cheddar cheese on it. Then put the toppings as required. After that put white sauce and cheese on top of the pizza. In the last sprinkle some oregano on Pizza. 
 
Preheat the oven between 450 and 500 degrees F (250 to 260 degrees C) large and thick-crusted pizza might need an oven temperature closer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) so that the crust can cook completely.


Procedure without oven:

To bake the pizza without an oven. Take a pan and set the dough in it. After that make small little holes in the dough with the help of a fork or stick. Spread tomato sauce on top of the dough and sprinkle some grated Mozerella or Cheddar cheese on it. Then put the toppings as required. After that put white sauce and cheese on top of the pizza. In the last sprinkle some oregano on Pizza.

Grease the pan with oil. Preheat the pan for 15 seconds. After that put the pizza in a pan and cover it with a lid so that air can not enter. Cook the pizza for 45 minutes after that remove the lid and check with the help of a Toothpick, whether the pizza is done or not. Flip the pizza and cook it for 15 minutes then check its dough. If you feel that the pizza is done, turn off the stove and enjoy the meal.
